<HTML>"About the only thing missing is ... a sailor with appendicitis."
I don't mean to burst your bubble, but emergency appendictomies where performed at sea on US submarines.....not just propaganda.
USS Seadragon -- 11 Sept 1942 Pharmacist's Mate 1st Class Wheeler B. Lipes operated on Seaman 1st Class Darrell Dean Rector.
USS Grayback -- 13 Dec 1942 PhM1 Harry B. Roby operated on Torpedoman's Mate W. R. Jones
USS Silversides --22 Dec 1942 PhM1 Thomas Moore operated on Fireman 1st Class George Platter
All 3 operations were successful! As is said, 'You can look it up!'
During WW2, 11 cases of appendicitis were treated on US subs. With only 3 cases requiring surgery. Not a single death resulted from these 11 cases.
As for Cary Grant, you got me there ;-)
Cheers!</HTML>
