<HTML>Nazis and communists created a process, the purpose of which was total destruction of a certain part of society. In the Nazi case the Jews were the ones to be exterminated, in the communist case the members of 'class of exploiters' were the ones to be exterminated. Both parties achieved 'tremendous success' and as a result of their 'accomplishments' some 50 million humans were wiped out off the face of this planet. 50 mil is a 'ballpark figure' as nobody knows for sure how many lifes did the nazi and communist dictatures cost mankind.
I find your arguements about slavery and Native Americans irrelevant. There was a war between Native Americans and colonists which the colonists eventually won. The society that Native Americans had was not tough enough to fight European colonists. As for slavery - it was a fairly common practice in many places including Europe. Americans were kind'a late in ditching it, which shows that american society was behind Europe at the time, but generaly consistent with the development of human society. The German society completely returned to pre-renaissance times in the 1940s. That's a shame.
As for Germans and Russians I believe that both are responsible for what Hitler and Stalin did. After all, both didn't arrive in a sealed capsule from another planet Both nations seem to have loved their leaders while said leaders were in charge. One thing that Germans can get credit for, is the fact that vast majority of them understand that what Nazis did was wrong. Unfortunately there is no such understanding in Russia when it comes to communism: too many old @#$%& still adore the idea.
One doesn't just "get" a bad history, it's all about what their ancestors did...</HTML>
