This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>Dear Cate,
The specific photo I had in mind is on p. 123 of "Die U-Boot-Fahrer". I really don't know about the English translation of "Der U-Boot-Krieg". When I find some time I shall try to scan it and send it to you, since I haven't mastered the art of posting photos in the forum and I'm not exactly certain about copyright.
The Obersteuermann's real name was Alfred Radermacher, and I think that Kriechbaum was the name of a sailor. He may have served on other ships before U 96, but I doubt they were U-boats. He was recommended to become a commissioned officer because of his great experience. As for Pilgrim, he's seen later on during the Gibraltar episode trying to fix some broken part and is actually adressed by the Captain as he's carrying out the repairs. Talking about continuity errors, I suppose they will creep up on any film: Petersen himself says on the Director's Cut Cd that at one point the continuity girl can be seen in a shot.
Regards
