to sink EHIME MARU. She returned to Pearl Harbor on 17 November." Does that
name EHIME MARU sound familiar?

I have ADM (Pete) I.J. Galantin's "TAKE HER DEEP" and I met him at a small reunion in Gloucester, VA some time ago; just can't remember the date.

"To his wartime shipmates, however, he is still "Captain Pete" at their annual
get-togethers; it was they who urged him to write this story of their common service
and their shared ordeal. In Edward Beach's words, "They feared the enemy together and put their faith in the only place they could, in their boat and their skipper. These brought them through against the toughest ASW measures, and the greatest damage reported by any submarine of our side. It was the nearest of near missses, and it remains the truest, and strongest, of all possible bonds."

Frrom 1966 until his retirement in 1970, he was Chief of Naval Material, with the rank of full admiral.
