On the director/cast soundtrack on the DVD, Petersen says the he sat down with the production team every morning and they discussed about things should be done, and agreed on the important things that way. They also asked various experts for input, so I'd say it was more of a group effort with Petersen having the basic ideas ready and everyone arranging things for the best possible result.

Of course, not everything that's done behind the scenes is told and I wouldn't find it impossible that they had asked the surviving crew members for a permission to do certain things. This is all conjecture though, I don't know for sure.</HTML>
