22:15 - Back to proper site updates
After a brief break where I happened to turn 40 last weekend (!) I'm now back to the regular work, and then some. More book reviews are upcoming, as well as more work on the WWI section and general improvements all over the site, including various map work. Stay tuned.
11:44 - Site outage
The site was down for about 10 hours from roughly midnight GMT on Nov 22.
- Added book review for The German Invasion of Norway
11:11 - More improvements on the WWI section
Added 43 photos of Allied ships hit by U-boats and 42 photos of Allied Warships hit during WWI. You can see all of them on our Recent Updates page.
21:30 - WWI section updates
Our section on the U-boat War during World War One has been going through massive updates in the last few weeks. The focus has been largely on the WWI Decorations page and then ship photos, namely Greatest loss of life during WWI, Largest ships sunk or damaged and Allied Warships hit during WWI. Much of this update work has to be attributed to the good work of Mr. Leonardo Formentini.
14:40 - U-boat surrender data completely updated
Through the good work of Derek Waller and Dr. Axel Niestlé our data on U-boats surrendering at the end of the war was been heavily revised. The information long accepted as factual has been revised for many of the boats and others have had smaller changes (May 9 surrender instead of May 8 for example). Accompanying the revised surrender list is an article explaining the extensive work on the surrender boats.
In addition to the items shown here above we made some 956 additions or changes in our databases during November 2010.
