Hi Greg,
I've got one of the Accurate Armour Type VIIC kits. It really is a huge model!
This kit is primarily a combination of cast urethane epoxy and photo etched brass parts. The bulk of it is the epoxy parts.
The biggest challenge in building the kit is to glue the three hull sections together and then filling the resulting seams. Not necessarily a difficult process, but time consuming for the perfectionist.
The conning tower is made from three pieces as well: gyro compass dome, circular wintergarten, and then main body of the conning tower.
All of the deck detail (hull + conning tower) is cast into the various parts and is an excellent representation of an early-war Type VIIC.
The kit even provides a couple of assembly 'jigs' to aid the modeler in building the railings for the wintergarten. The railings are made from some stock brass rod that is supplied with the kit.
This kit, when combined with the quayside kit, makes one excellent diorama!
