It is not that I want it black. I just do not see how green, red, or blue could appear in such a dark hue. Again, if you want, I will email you the pics. Otherwise, you can view the pics here:

And please do not be mistaken; not all experts are in agreement on this matter, as you suggest. I have been in contact with several different people. The views on this matter are quite divergent and hotly disputed. If you have some evidence that can rebut the presumption that the emblem was black (based on the photos, that Lehmann-Willenbrock was an adviser on the set of das Boot, and thus apparently concurred with a black emblem being usined in that movie) then I would be more than happy to hear it. But plese drop the insulting tone. As I stated, it is hardly a matter that folks agree on.
As for the netcutters, I have since determined that were not featured on U-96 except maybe the first or second patrols.
