Thanks for the description, and I agree, you should get yourself a digital camera :)
But it doesn’t sound like it was the TDC they showed you, I get the impression that this guide didn’t know the boat that well after all. If you look at the inside of the conning tower with the virtual tour at their own site you can see that the TDC is still in the conning tower. (Or at least it was when they made the virtual tour.) Anyway it features about 10 gauges so it probably was something else you saw.
