Hi Don,

If this device is what I think it is, it is not the TDC for firing LUT torpedoes. Those torpedoes could be programmed as to what to do after they missed their target. They could be programmed to run a pattern through a convoy until they hit something or ran out of power. I believe this is the device through which that programming was done. I think that the firing of the torpedo in the first place was controlled by the real TDC. I am not 100% sure of this and am counting on someone setting me straight if I am wrong.
