Ther object you describe in your first posting is indeed the LUT " vorhaltrechner " , this should have been located in the forward torpedo room between the torpedo tubes . A good view of this and the standard torpedo vorhaltrechner can be found in the book DIE TORPEDOS DER DEUTSCHEN U-BOOTE by eberhard rossler . If you like I will send you pictures from this book if you cannot find it , a must have book !
