What method did the Engineer use to determine the salinity of the sea water sammple on a WWII U-boat?
The U-boats operated in the Indian Ocean, around Afica, In and
around the Medierranean, Azores, Caribbean areas which had
warmer sea water. This fact alone would make the use of determining the presence of thermal layers a worthwhile tool in the survival of a U-boat and its crew when Allied escorts tried to locate
them with active Asdic/Sonar.
