Brian/Yves,
35°40'N, 7°52'W on October 12, 1917. Vessel described as a destroyer or small cruiser which unintentionally hit a submerged U 151. The U-boat was aware of the warship's presense, the surface ship apparently wasn't. The sloop Begonia hit the submarine aft. After 15 seconds, a detentation or explosion was heard then no more propeller noises. U 151 suffered some flooding. Later, no warship was observed. When U 151 surfaced, the gashes caused by Begonia's prop were readily apparent -- as were portions of the propeller blade!
Best wishes,
Michael
