<HTML>I think you are correct with regard to the USN. The wartime Mark 18 and its derivatives were, of course, derived from captured/recovered examples of the German G7e. But I can\'t think of any post-war USN torpedo developments based on German or Japanese designs. The sea-water batteries and peroxide systems were developed in the USA during the war, so could not have depended on post-war discoveries of Axis technologies. The mono-propellants (e.g. MK46) that came later were entirely home-grown I believe, or at least I\'ve never heard of an Axis torpedo using anything like that.

As for explosives, the Allies already had the best, so there was nothing to copy.

Perhaps some guidance system features were copied. Of course, the USN had already developed successful wartime guided torpedoes, but perhaps something was learned from German models? I\'ve never heard of it, but maybe.</HTML>
