The allied studied the german torpedodesign, and after the war they interrogated german scientists, recrating documentations and technology. German torpedoes as well as their way of doing maintenance, organizing the arsenals and depots etc. You'll find a lot of reports in the UK national archives and the US counterpart (NARA). Some german technology were recommended adapted and further developed, other were doomed inferior to existing allied technology (as expected).

Well, that was the problem with the early TI, and a major part of the german "torpedo krisis" (along with the faulty pistols), which was eventually solved with a new depht-mechanism.
