<HTML>Innes, Cate and others,
Innes - I am glad we don't always agree - people might think we were 'working' together! The beauty of this forum is that we can disagree, without flaming - though both of us know here have been many flamers on here. Thank's for your observation, mate.
Cate - Thanks also for putting up a very reasoned argument that neither blames nor attempts to cover up rationale. The books on Walker are few and far between but I am sure there is an autobiography, though what its title is, alas, is just beyond me now. It's Sunday, I'm on make and mend and off duties! I am, by the way, excused Church Parade as I am listed as being Free Church of Bombay
( That's a Navy in-joke so don't jump in on it! )
Can I just draw this thread to a close, seeing as how I sort of started it way, way back? I'd like to thank everyone who took part and gave their views, opinions and bits of fact. My own viewpoint on Walker hasn't changed - I have to remind everyone of that - but I think I now know more than when I first posted.
Cheers all - once again, this forum has proven how bloody good a place it is.
Aye,
