Movies and Films
This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>hi Meg
i'm wondering if the bowdlerised version you saw on tv is the same one someone posted about on here a while back that seemed to run at a length that was longer than the DC but shorter than the full miniseries.
i agree it's VERY irritating when folk take it on themselves to decide for us what we're adult enough to watch and listen to,
if its any comfort, even the film/ tv series is edited for taste and decency in comparison with the original novel - (i'm not sure sailors fantasising about frolicking with consenting partners quite covers one man's musings on the erotic possibilies of a bag of pigs liver for example), and the english translations i have of the book are similarly censored compared to the german, and the german paperback edition tastefully 'abridged' compared to the hard back.
give someone the power and they seem to feel obliged to know what's good for us....
