Dear Hubertus,
That is a lovely project indeed, and it must be wonderful to be using all your knowledge to bring about such an idea. However, it carries within it the seeds of discension. The presence of so many Italian POWs must be thoroughly researched in terms of the German Naval Command's agreement to help save the survivors. After all, there were several other sinkings of passenger liners where no attempt at providing similar help was made, the cases of the Athenia, City of Cairo and Western Prince spring to mind, not to mention the notorious Lusitania from WWI. It is indeed an issue which has to be resolved, especially if you are addressing Anglo-Saxon audiences. In the meantime,
All the Best for your efforts
