Formed U-boat group 6 (Pentland Firth) together with U-13, U-57, U-58 and U-59 for Operation Weseruebung, the German invasion of Denmark and Norway. On 11 April, the boat was ordered to patrol off the Orkney Islands but had to abort the patrol eight days later due to the illness of a crew member.
