27 Jun 1942. After sinking the American merchantman Potlatch, U-153 gave the survivors cigarettes after questioning them.

29 Jun 1942. After torpedoing her, U-153 rescued four men from the sinking American steam merchantman Ruth and put them in a lifeboat.
