I believe it is an invalid statement to say that the modern diesel were deprived from Type XXI........they may seem very similar, but that is because the simple nature of reducing underwater drag by structural design can only go so far, the basic design for submarine hulls havent changed that much.....
also.......modern diesel submarines are far more advanced than those of the Second World war.
they recharge their batterys less often, and much quicker than WWII, and also.....even modern nuclear hunter/killers respect the diesel because the diesel is much much quiter and they usually stay in costal waters anyway.
Nuclear reactors r the main source of noise.....and its too inconvient to shut them down........thus........when the diesel is running on batterys........its almost undetectable passively unless it has bad screws and r running at a high sleep.......
