The German U212/214 class diesel submarine can run and stay under water for about 2 weeks without snorting or surfacing, running the diesels on a (AIP) air independant propulsion system which is a system consisting of liquid oxygen tanks and diesel fuel in a inert(helium) environment. The diesel engines are mounted in a soundproof room. Which is long enough to accomplish what you want as a submarine. Usually more silent than a nuclear submarine and there for more deadly. All of this without turning your crew into lightbulbs!!
