Great info; I did not understand the ejection method used.
There would be three "doors" associated with each tube.
The breech door in the Torpedo Room
The muzzle door outside the pressure hull.
The shutter door, or "bow cap" that faired-in the bow; this is the rectangular opening seen in photos and movies.
The muzzle door that opens outward is rarely seen as it is buried in the freeflood area and could withstand test depth pressure when closed.
On modern subs, the muzzle door and shutter door are mechanically
linked to open together prior to launch. Don't know if this was
true for the U-Boats.
