Re; Pressure in the boat: when the pressure usually built up it could be reduce to a safer level by running one of the boats air/compressors for a short time.
Air pressure usually came from small air leaks and from venting certain tanks back inboard on completion of blowing. EG: sewerage and slop water tanks.
Later boats" The T/tube was filled with sea water prior to firng and a large hydrualic ram was cocked in Torpedo compartment, on firng by compressed air, the ram pushed the water and torpedo out of the tube. This eliminated any tale/tale bubble giving the postion of boat away. The outer door had a fairing attached and re streamlined the boat on closing the outer tube door, the water in it was drained back into the WRT (water round torpedo) tanks located in Torpedo room.
Hope this might assist a little.
