I do recall now one technology: The US developed some torpedoes post war that could zig-zag or loop in circles to better hit ships in a tight convoy - a la FAT torpedoes. This was a direct copy of the German technology.
Since the US didn't face post war an enemy escorting convoys of merchant ships, and wire guided torps became quite good, the idea faded out.</HTML>
