<HTML>Hi all
I have stood back for a few days to see where the Beware! thread would lead?
My views are expressed elequently enough in the views of Frank and John so I will not go over old ground here!
However I will say that are we not all ready members of a club with no real paying members? Those of us who regularly use the U-boat net are we all branded as being NAZi! because we write about U-boats and have an avide interest in them?
No we are not, Therfore the setting up of such a club as proposed is to read, help and disseminate history as and where it happened not solely from U-boat related area's but from all aspects of that part of the war.
Those of you that saw the pilot edition of "The U-boat Chronicles" at Birkenhead recently will know that in fact it contained three articles. The Death of a U-boat, (not good for moral if we are all branded as Nazi's!) The sinking of two Allied tankers off America in 1942.(Thats good for moral!) and the recent discovery of U-166, so hopefully you can see that all spectrums will be covered both Allied and German sides, good or bad! The whole idea of this is the Dissemination of history and each article is in depth and historically correct as is practical.
The magazine will be probably be the only thing most people will get to see and read as I do not anticipate everyone meeting on a regular basis!
This idea eminated from within the recent meeting at Birkenhead and even if it is only kept to the original Dirty Dozen as members then we were such a band of happy matelots with an interest in U-boats then I do not see no reason why we should all join and keep in touch! I myself made a lot of good friends in such a short time! And I do note believe for one moment or thought that these people around me where Nazi's or any other political persussion.
let me make one thing quite clear!
Those of the political correct brigade go and fight the corner of other more meaningful purposes and leave me to my interests.
I own an original Kreigsmarine battleflag in my collection and the Swastika is displayed on it, does this make me a Nazi! no it does not.
Politically correct people, keep your views to youself......basically GET STUFFED!
sorry for ranting on but I have come across this view in so many peoples biased opinions I am fed up with it.
no malice intended Joe! more aimed at those who are the politically correct and are yet to voice ther opinion.
all sytems are still A OK!
regards
