Perhaps I did not make my self clear enough in what I meant by that statement. it was primarily aimed at Joe's comment of joining forces with @#$%& as you are well aware they are USA based what would be the point of us joining them as an affiliated section! When the chances of us ever getting together face to face would be small if non existant! The whole idea of a UK based club is so that we can come together personally as often as is practicable as demonstrated at Birkenhead.
In the interests of Anglo-American Relations Frank I apologize if my remarks affended you in any way, they were not intended to.
If I lived in the USA then perhaps I would be a member of @#$%& because then I could meet like minded people personally and not necessarily through this site or other means! As it is we all had great fun at Birkenhead and no matter how much we write to each other personal face to face contact can not be beaten.
That is one of the primary aims of the setting up of this club. putting a face to a name and having a beer or two and chatting on our chosen topic!
However to further advance Anglo-American Relations can you please invite me over to see Pearl Harbour, U-505, The Alamo, Civil War Battlefields, and the numerous "Pig Boats" and Battleships that you have dotted around the place! As we appear to not really preserve our Naval heritage as much as America does!
I do consede on your point of order however and I retract my statement about Europe being the only place close to history! these were the wrong words to use!
regards
