<HTML>Hi John -
Endorsed 100%. Can I add that since becoming involved with u-boat research some 18 months ago, and having covered a fair bit of ground in that time both in UK and Germany, I can honestly say that I have not encountered any antagonism about the subject from anyone I have talked to; indeed I have just been talking to an elderly British WW2 submariner this afternoon who, having been surprised to find a picture of a u-boat hung on my wall, ended up having to be dragged away from u-boat logs and photos by his friends! There is currently a tremendous amount of interest in the subject in the UK, and surprisingly little animosity. I`m only sorry that this does not yet appear to be the case everywhere. Perhaps in part because we and the Germans are such close neighbours, I have the impression that there has been a terrific amount of reconciliation taking place between the two countries, especially during the last 10/15 years, even, indeed especially, between those still living who fought on opposite sides. Those further afield may not have yet shared in this or be aware of it.
The war and the National Socialist regime are after all now long past - which is not to say that any of us either in England or (in my experience) in Germany would wish the dire events of the war or of the Third Reich to be forgotten.......ever. As John says, `Keep history alive !`........... (and yes, even the Romans and the Celts !)
Best regards
