for at least thirty years since the end of WW2 the Germans were portrayed like cruel idiots. This was a bad service to history, bud a good one to politics. Just switch Nazi with Soviet and you get the actual subliminal meaning of that aptitude. Basically it was an updated edition of the \"St George against the Dragoon\" subject.
\"Enemy below\" was somewhat different but also pretty unrealistic with all its idealism. Anyway I liked it very much.
According to the veterans I discussed this subject, one of the few movies where the Germans behaved like Germans was \"Murphy\' s War\" Albeit questionable for many details, in this movie it was clearly shown the clash of methods and mentality of the two fighting sides.
