<HTML>As usual Dietzsch has put his finger succinctly and elegantly on the main problem with this film - that the director had pretensions to it being more than the piece of hokum it was.
If you would like to read a thorough deconstuction of just why it was so bad you could do worse than go to a previous post on this forum by Darryl Carpenter back in January at [www.uboat.net]
I promise you it is far more entertaining than the movie.
Patrick's correct - of course they did get somethings right, but with a budget that big and the usual obligatory technical and naval advisors they should have done much better. It was a wasted opportunity to make a really good sub-movie. It will be a cold day in hell before I will ever forgive Mostow for so seriously embarassing me in front of the friends I dragged off to see it with me.
