tee hee. DONT talk to me about George Bush. Was supposed to be taking some photos at a museum a week or so back and couldn't be accomodated because they couldn't cope with me, HRH Wales and George Dubbyas old man on the same day.
Seriously, the US angle could throw up some interesting casting. No doubt to make it palateable to the US audience they'd have to introduce a dissenting officer who voices his moral misgivings about attacking in the circumstances. Have the feeling that will turn out to be Harrison Ford, but that's ok, I can live with that
If I was writing it I'd put the thing in the context of Dönitz' trial and serving time for the Laconia Order. It broadens the base a bit and underlines the point about no-one ever being called to public account for the US decision to attack the subs involved in the rescue. Dönitz was such a fascinating and complex character, with his nazi sympathies and the loss of his sons, as well as his own war record and skills as a naval stategist that his experience could be dramatically very interesting. Jurgen P for the Grossadmiral do you think maybe.....? (or is that getting a bit too incestuous? )
