General Events during this patrol
1941
27 Sep 1941. U-68 and U-111 met at a remote location, Tarafal Bay in the Cape Verde Islands at 1320 hrs. Allied code-breaking efforts had learned of the rendezvous (to treat a medical case on U-68) and placed a submarine in the area. Four torpedoes were transferred from the homebound U-111 to U-68. Just before midnight, U-111 was rammed and seriously damaged by the British submarine HMS Clyde. Shortly afterwards U-67 also appeared on the scene and in the confusion she and the British submarine had a collision which damaged both boats.
