Formed a reinforcement group together with U-17 and U-23 for Operation Weseruebung, the German invasion of Denmark and Norway. The boat made a defensive patrol off Bergen until 25 April and then made a patrol between Shetland and Norway. On 20 April, U-24 had transferred an ill crew member to the German Schnellboot S-24.
