Decommissioned on 23 December 1943 at Kiel, after being damaged in the Howaldtswerke shipyard by bombs during a US air raid (8th AF) on 13 December 1943.

Foundered while under tow on 2 February 1944 in the Baltic Sea north of Warnemünde, in position 54.20,5N, 12.04,5E. Wreck raised in April 1953 and broken up at Stralsund.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-345 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
