<HTML>For Takeo and all the other concerned people.
I was the coordinator of the salvage operation of U534 in 1993. It was undertaken by DBA and closely controlled by the Danish Ministry of Defence. Aage Jensen (not Uwe) was the man that originally located the wreck.
I consider this a valuable discussion about looting and wargraves - but you are directing your fire in the wrong direction.
The files were carefully researched - survivors\' advice sought - DBA, a publishing enterprise, was fully aware that there was no gold or valuable on board - those were media rumours. Director Karsten Ree made that clear at the press conference when he announced the decision to raise the uboat. He also clearly stated that he was willing to spend the many millions to preserve this for future generations as the historically important relic it was. And so he did. It is now on display in Birkenhead, UK along with the artefacts and the documents that we are still working on - this work is slow and expensive and will be shared.
We have done everything to show respect to the dead and the survivors - and there is no way you can do any \"robbing\" at any greater scale in these Danish waters because of the very strict regulations. And Aage Jensen or we have absolutely no intenbtions to do so.
I am incharge of DBA Diving Division and we work with Aage Jensen on several important historical wrecks.
I am travelling and may not be quick to respond or comment - but I am looking forward to participate in this worthwhile discussion.
