Controversial question. I have never seen any evidence whatsoever that it happened BUT the RN suspected that some Irish republicans might have had Nazi sympathies. A series of fishing boat/H boat combinations were attempted in 1941 in the hope of catching U boats off secluded Irish bays.
I do know that late in the war, crippled U boats often tried to head for Irish waters.
