<HTML>John,
I looked up Martin Middlebrooks \"Operation Corporate\".
His research showed a large shallow bank between General Belgrano and the royal Navy Task Force \" 25th of May \" lay to the north and was unabale to lauch an air strike due to a lack of wind which prevented her launching her aircraft /Sky Hawks.
General Belgrano was not as Steve might have one believe a venerable old lady out on a shakedown cruise....her intentions were hostile.
The \"Sun\" headline reporting the sinking of General Belgrano....well what can you say about the \"SUN\"....the loss of life was terrible ..it could so easily have been sailors from \"Ark Royal\" in the water.
After this action the Argentine Navy withdrew from the South Atlantic.
The ideation that the sinking of General Belgrano destroyed any chance of a peaceful settlement........well a pinch of salt is called for.
Operation Corporate was a close run thing........\"I counted them all out and I counted them all back\"...had General Belgrano been let go that phrase might have been so very different. </HTML>
