Pich in U-168 was torpedoed on 6/10/43 by Dutch submrine Zwaarndfisch after leaving Jakarta,she plummetted to a depth of 45m.Pich his LI and medical officer were trapped within the control room.There they waited in the darkness as the water level rose,allowing pressure to equalise and the hatch to be opened, the resultant air bubble blowing them all to the surface.
