Toward the end of the film "DAS BOOT", the boat survived at sea only to be destroyed during an air attack after returning to base. The attacking aircraft were U.S. trainers flown by members of a French aero club. In the book, Bucheim states: "I recognize a double-tailed lightning, and high up a swarm of bombers."
I've viewed all the videos of "DAS BOOT" and read the book three times.
No one should try to say one is better than the other, because it's a case
of apples and pears. Comparison between "U-571" or "K-19" makes
sense, like comparing the book "DAS BOOT" with "OPERATION DRUMBEAT."
