General Events during this patrol

1942

14 Feb 1942. U-86 rescued three German airmen from a rubber dinghy in the Bay of Biscay about 200 nautical miles west of Lorient, France at 0931hrs. They were from the Heinkel He111H-6 WNr 4380 (8./KG 40, F8+ES) which was shot down the day before. The U-boat searched in vain for a second rubber dinghy, but the missing fourth crewman was eventually found by other German forces.
