<HTML>Hi
I was going to start with, \"Does anybody know...\" but realised that the amount of knowledge regarding U-boats on this sight is huge. To the point..
What, if any, is the difference between Metox and FuMB?
What does FuMB stand for?
An amusing story.Walter Meyer returning from SA waters in the Bay of Biscay during December 1942 wrote(on U-68):
\"During the whole night we sailed unmolested by the enemy. Nor did we expect to see any aircraft, as our Metox would have told us in good time, now we were convinced that Metox was the sailors trusty friend. (Later when safely home, the dockyard experts found that the cable had broken in sixteen places and Metox could not have \'spoken\' even if the entire RAF had shown up!)\"
I know that they were used to detect Allied radio waves and warn of approaching aircraft.
Regards
