The movie version of the K-19 was not able to submerge. In reality it was the Soviet diesel-powered Juliett-class K-81, which was on display in St. Petersburg, FL (USA) a few years ago.

Hollywood doctored it up to look like a Soviet nuclear-powered boat, and it was donated to the SARATOGA MUSEUM in Providence, RI after production of the
movie.
