Thanks for sharing this information. I, for one, hadn't ever heard of other journalists going out on UBoats. I'm reading the Admiral's book (slowly--my German isn't quite up to speed yet) and hold him in very high esteem--what a good and thoughtful man.
Here in California we're used to (very dry) heat but I imagine it's far more unpleasant for you in Germany, where the humidity is probably quite high, and you don't live in drafty wooden houses like we do, where there is "ventilation" whether you want it or not. Do be careful! We hear that some people have actually died as a result of this heat wave.
