<HTML>Dear Meg,
The PK-men were sent out on u-boats all the time, you should see the volume of articles they produced while on patrol, people like Dr Wolfgang Frank, Dr HansKarl Müller, Jochen Brennecke, etc. There are loads of their original stuff over at Freiburg. In fact, they went out so often, that most of them b e c a m e part of the crew with practically no friction after their first patrol.
One particular Werner-the-Weasel, however, because he disliked his first experience so much (claustrophobia and all), managed to recycle material for a second article, and even cozied-up to a returning Kommandant, so that he could get the Kaleun's first-hand report and use it in a third article, thereby justifying his PK-status without actually having to set foot on a U-Boot until much, much later.
Kindest Regards
