<HTML>Hi Fin,
I hope that you¡¯ll soon recover from your flu. Have a good rest and take care!
Yes, I highly recommend ¡°Operation Drumbeat¡±. Though it concentrated on the U-boat war in the American waters, it also gave you a full view of the Battle of the Atlantic. Though it¡¯s a historical account, ¡°Operation Drumbeat¡± possesses the dramatic power you will find in some bestseller novels. I¡¯m sure you¡¯ll have a very exciting reading experience with this book.
Judging from what I read, Hardegen is indeed a good man with good looking and good heart. The book also said that he was very sad to know and felt sorry for the destiny and sufferings of his victims. It¡¯s much easier to be humane in peace time, however, in such a merciless war like WWII, it¡¯s really hard to maintain your honor and integrity. For this I highly respect Hardegen.
I haven¡¯t read ¡°Silent Hunters¡±, but your brief introduction has already aroused my interest. I¡¯m sure to read the book when I get the chance.
Take care,
Ying
