<HTML>Dear Volker.
As a matter of interest, was your Father,Mother or Admiral Topp stationed at St Nazaire when it was attacked by a british commando force (Operation Chariot 28th March 1942).
I ask because my Great Uncle,Billy Howard was a member of 3 Commando and took part in this action.Sadly "Uncle Billy" died in November last year.It wasn't very easy to have a serious conversation with him because of his sense of humor.
Although I think a lot of his joking was really a reluctance to talk about those days.
For this reason,I don't have much information about his millitary career.
If your Father or Mother were there, maybe they tended some of the wounded.
I would be very grateful for any stories or information about St Nazaire.
With thanks.
