Hello Pedro,
I agree with the sentiment you express. U-boat net is a great place for serious research and it is sometimes infuriating to see this diluted with absurdities. However, what better place to disassemble myth and nonsense than in the atmosphere of a knowledgeable, reliable forum on the web? Every time another book or DVD appears ‘exposing’ Elvis and J Edgar Hoover living in a Cadillac on the moon, it is easy to say ‘that is rubbish’. It is more difficult, but more important, to counter the attempts to rewrite history that use sensationalism based on suspicions and lies. Anyone coming to U-boat.net for further information on the points raised by sensationalist writers will be presented with facts, and that has to be a good thing.
If I can help to debunk a myth, with facts, I will. Likewise, if I have fallen into the trap of accepting some falsehoods as part of history, I sincerely hope that people like Paul, Robert M, Dan Odenweller, Heinrich and Ken Dunn (all of whom responded earlier in this thread) would take the time to put right my mistakes.
Regards,
Bruce Dennis
