Dear Paul
As I said, I know only what I was told. The group was certain that there was gold aboard. That aspect is not of interest to me. I think the weapons material was the major item of cargo.
I am very disappointed that you have not looked at a chart or even a map of the Bay of San MatÃas. You have made assumptions which betray your lack of integrity and knowledge. I stated that the maximum depth at where the wreck was alleged to lie was 300 metres, not 3000 feet. There is no human habitation within at least fifty miles of where the wreck allegedly lay. If the Bay of San MatÃas has all these fishing villages, merchant traffic and recreational boaters, then it comes as a surprise to all Argentinians. The reason why the FBI was so certain postwar that this would be where U-boat disembarcations would be made was precisely because of its utter remoteness.
The End.
