Because some people have hearing disabilities.
But what makes me wonder is why some such movies have "English" subtitles and "English for people with hearing disabilities" subtitles, the latter having the exact same words that are spoken and even descriptions of important sounds.
Maybe because some people might find the written sounds a bit silly, but that doesn't seem like a big deal.</HTML>
