Hello Paul.
For language reasons, we will respond briefly. The U-530 (capt. Otto Wermuth) sank the USS Eagle 56, while the U-977 (Heinz Schäffer) sank the BahÃa. Please read the statements of the crew of U-530 existing in your National Archives (NARA).
Regarding Schäffer, in his book "The secret of the U-977" recognizes that it was the day and time of the sinking ( July 4, 1945), 60 miles from the BahÃa.
Schäffer lived many years in Argentina, commenting on the fact of the sinking.
